This home made play dough is easy to make and completely child friendly. It is safe to ingest as it is only flour and salt but we do not advise this, and small children should be supervised accordingly.
Recipe:
250g Flour (any variety will suffice)
50g Table Salt
180ml Warm Water
4 x Different coloured food colouring – optional.
Method:
Simply mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Slowly add the warm water whilst mixing the ingredients with a wooden spoon. If the mixture gets too wet simply add more flour or if it is too dry add more water. Once the dough starts to cling together, kneed the remaining bits sticking to the sides of the bowl with your hands.
If you do not want to add food colourings, then your playdough is ready!
The dough should be stored in an airtight container or bag and if kept in the fridge will last for about 4 weeks.
To colour your dough:
Lightly knead the dough and roll into a ‘sausage’. Cut the ‘sausage’ into 4 pieces. Make an indentation in each piece and add a small amount of food colouring to each piece. Fold the dough in on itself to completely stain the dough with the food colouring. Add more food colouring to get the desired colour.
Store as above.
You will find our home made playdough area in the Kids Tent at our festival.
